Position Summary
The Digital Print Finisher / Inspector Rewinder is responsible for performing finishing operations on digitally printed label rolls, ensuring product quality and compliance with customer specifications. This includes operating rewind inspection systems, finishing equipment, and performing quality control checks. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor inspection rewind systems to detect and remove defective labels, splices, or imperfections.
- Set up and run various finishing equipment including slitters, rewinders, sheeters, and digital label finishers per job specifications.
- Perform quality checks including color verification, die-cut registration, barcode scans, and label counts.
- Review and interpret job tickets to verify customer requirements, material specifications, and finishing instructions.
- Document production data including job logs, material usage, and inspection results accurately and in real-time.
- Package finished products according to customer specifications, including labeling, boxing, and palletizing.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.
- Identify and escalate quality concerns or machine malfunctions to supervisors or maintenance personnel as needed.
- Ensure proper handling of materials and finished goods to minimize waste and prevent damage.
- Follow all plant safety rules and participate in safety initiatives and training.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- 1–2 years of experience in a printing, packaging, or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Prior experience operating rewinders, slitter/finishers, or digital finishing equipment is a strong plus.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality focus.
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, work instructions, and measurement tools.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to noise, inks, solvents, and fast-moving machinery.
- Regular standing, bending, lifting, and reaching in a production environment.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
Shift & Schedule
- Full-time position. Shifts may vary based on production needs, including potential overtime, evening, or weekend work.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift, push, or pull materials up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination are essential.
