Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Licensed Funeral Director and embalmer to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, you will oversee all aspects of funeral service operations, ensuring respectful and personalized care for the deceased and their families. Your expertise will help guide families through difficult times with professionalism, empathy, and clarity. This position also includes your overseeing an intern for 8-12 months. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the community while utilizing your comprehensive knowledge of mortuary science principles and funeral directing.
Duties
- Coordinate and manage funeral arrangements, including planning services and coordinating logistics to ensure seamless event execution
- Prepare and dress deceased persons with appropriate cosmetic application, adhering to dignity and respect standards
- Perform embalming procedures, utilizing anatomy knowledge and mortuary science principles to preserve bodies effectively
- Handle heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely when transporting or preparing bodies for services or cremation
- Operate company vehicles safely for transportation of remains and funeral equipment
- Provide bereavement support and compassionate client communication throughout the funeral process
- Manage sanitation, dissection, and other mortuary procedures in compliance with health regulations
- Utilize funeral service technology for record-keeping, scheduling, and communication purposes
- Plan funeral events meticulously, including coordinating with clergy, vendors, and family members to create meaningful ceremonies
- Conduct cremation processes in accordance with industry standards and legal requirements
- Offer sales support by guiding families through available services and merchandise options
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Funeral Director with active licensure as <PERSON> or equivalent certification
- Demonstrated experience in funeral directing, embalming, and mortuary science principles
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and dissection techniques relevant to mortuary practices
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple arrangements efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with grieving families
- Ability to operate funeral service technology systems confidently
- Physical capacity for heavy lifting, sanitation duties, and manual handling tasks required in mortuary settings
- Experience with cremation procedures and event planning for funerals or memorial services is preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for operation of company vehicles

Pay: $50,248.64 - $60,514.49 per year
