Music Lab: Drum Instructor
We are looking for a specialized drum instructor to work around 3 days a week with 3 hours minimum per day of availability. Applicants should be able to teach all levels on drum set with a diverse knowledge of different styles and genres. The schedule is flexible, but we are looking to have someone who can cover at least Monday and Friday. Applicants should have previous teaching experience, and should be comfortable teaching all ages and skill levels.
Job Description:
- Teach drum set technique and performance to students with 30/60 minute lessons
- Develop good dynamics between yourself and the students, fostering a community-driven atmosphere in line with Music Lab's values
- Instruct with an open mentality, ready to change for each student's individual needs from music lessons, and prepared to instruct through your own curriculum
- Be flexible to student and parent needs when it comes to how to teach students
- Provide detailed notes to send to students and parents regarding lesson summaries and what the students should be working on over the week.
- Show up prepared for trial lessons, students, and Student Showcase events
All scheduling and client interactions outside of lessons is handled by our front desk and would never be your responsibility, outside of notifying the front desk of any changes to your own schedule or your student's schedule, if they have not been notified already. Music Lab is an instructor driven lesson studio, we do not enforce any curriculum or set schedule for where a student should be in milestones, that is all decided by the instructor themselves.
Helpful but Not Required:
- Experience teaching piano, or other instruments, even at a beginner level
- Experience teaching other percussion instruments, specifically anything to do with marching band or latin percussion
- A relatively open schedule; An instructor's success at Music Lab relies almost entirely on their availability. If you work for 5 hours a week, one hour each day, there will be little chance to fill that availability. If you instead work one day, with 5 hours open, that immediately helps with our front desk scheduling your trial students
Music Lab provides all drumming equipment, method and technique books, and other miscellaneous teaching materials at request. Applicants should be ready to eventually be livescanned, as we partner with multiple private schooling programs that require it.
Pay: From $26.00 per hour
