Academie Da Vinci Charter School for the Arts and Technology (ADV) is an A-rated public charter school serving approximately 365 students in grades K–8. ADV is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and highly qualified Dance Teacher for students in grades 4–8.
The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of dance technique, choreography, performance production, and instructional best practices. Successful applicants will be passionate about arts education, skilled in working with diverse learners, and comfortable choreographing performances and events. The Dance Teacher will provide instruction for both beginning and advanced dance students while fostering creativity, discipline, collaboration, and artistic expression.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging dance instruction for students in grades 4–8.
- Teach a variety of dance styles, techniques, and movement concepts appropriate for elementary and middle school students.
- Develop and implement standards-based lessons that support student growth in technical skills, performance, choreography, and artistic expression.
- Collaborate with fellow dance instructors and the School Arts Team to plan, choreograph, costume, and produce winter and spring performances and other school events.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and varying skill levels.
- Utilize technology to enhance instruction, student engagement, and performance preparation.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment that supports student success.
- Implement effective classroom management practices and actively support the school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework.
- Assess and monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate student achievement effectively.
- Confer with students, parents/guardians, administrators, and support personnel regarding academic, artistic, and social development.
- Maintain all required documentation and records in accordance with school policies.
- Participate in school events, faculty meetings, professional development, and other duties as assigned.
- Perform other related responsibilities as required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, with a minor in Dance, Performing Arts, or a related field.
- Valid Florida Teaching Certificate in the appropriate subject area or eligibility for certification with a Florida Statement of Eligibility.
- Demonstrated experience teaching dance and working with school-aged children.
- Knowledge of dance pedagogy, choreography, performance production, and classroom management.
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a creative and supportive educational team.
- Minimum of three professional references.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching both elementary and middle school students.
- Experience producing student performances and showcases.
- Experience integrating technology into arts instruction.
- Certification or training in multiple dance styles.
Compensation:
Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
