We are seeking a dedicated, licensed Professional Engineer (PE) who is ready to bridge the gap between field evaluation and high-quality technical design.
About the Role
In this role, you will take full ownership of fire control and mechanical projects from the initial site walkthrough to the final stamped plans. You will be responsible for traveling to local job sites to evaluate conditions, taking precise field measurements, and translating that data into flawless 2D AutoCAD drawings. As our licensed PE, your stamp will validate that our designs meet the stringent safety and regulatory standards of New York City.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to various job sites across NYC to conduct thorough field surveys and site inspections of existing fire protection and mechanical systems.
- Take precise field measurements and comprehensively document existing structural and system conditions.
- Translate field notes, sketches, and measurements into highly accurate, professional 2D AutoCAD plans and schematics.
- Design and draft engineering plans (sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire alarms, or related mechanical systems) in strict compliance with the NYC Building Code, FDNY regulations, and NFPA standards.
- Review, finalize, and apply your Professional Engineer (PE) stamp to completed engineering drawings and filings.
- Coordinate seamlessly with project managers, clients, and municipal agencies (DOB/FDNY) to navigate approvals and ensure project feasibility.
- Maintain meticulous, organized documentation of all site visits, design iterations, and final stamped deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Must hold an active New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license with the ability to stamp and seal plans immediately.
- Drafting Expertise: Extensive, proven experience producing professional, submittal-ready 2D drawings using AutoCAD.
- Field Experience: Demonstrated ability and willingness to travel to city job sites, navigate active construction environments, and take highly accurate field measurements.
- Knowledge Base: Strong familiarity with NYC DOB filing processes, FDNY codes, and NFPA standards.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong spatial awareness, and excellent communication skills for client and agency interaction.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
License/Certification:
