Our busy and growing grooming team is looking for an enthusiastic Grooming Assistant to join us!
Arroyo Vista Veterinary Hospital is a full-service small animal hospital in Moorpark, CA with a beautiful attached grooming facility. Our talented groomers, Vianey and Jenn, have built a loyal client base and stay consistently booked caring for dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments.
We are looking for someone who loves working with animals, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys being part of a supportive team.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Typically 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Some days may end earlier if all grooming appointments are completed and pets have been picked up
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Bathing dogs and cats
- Drying pets and supervising pets during the drying process
- Safely handling and restraining animals
- Assisting groomers throughout the day as needed
- Checking pets in and out for appointments
- Entering grooming charges and updating records
- Communicating with pet owners when needed
- Verifying vaccine status prior to appointments
- Supervising pets during their stay
- Maintaining cleanliness throughout the grooming area
- Cleaning up after pets as necessary

- Positive, dependable, and hardworking
- Comfortable handling dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments
- Able to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment
- Friendly and professional with clients and coworkers
- Willing to jump in wherever needed to support the team
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience working in a grooming facility
- Basic computer and phone skills
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs with assistance
- Comfortable working around noise, odors, animal hair, and cleaning products
- Comfortable with the physical nature of animal care, including exposure to scratches, bites, animal waste, and contagious illnesses
