About the Role
E.J. Basler Co. is seeking a skilled CMM Programmer to join our Engineering & Quality team at the Schiller Park, IL location. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining coordinate measuring machine (CMM) programs to ensure precision and compliance of manufactured components. The CMM Programmer plays a key role in quality assurance, capability studies, and supporting new product launches.
What You'll Do
- Develop, write, and validate CMM programs using PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar software.
- Perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections with CMM equipment.
- Analyze dimensional inspection data and generate detailed reports for Engineering and Production teams.
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing programs for accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain calibration and inspection records to support compliance with quality standards.
- Train production and quality staff on measurement techniques and CMM use.
- Support PPAP, capability studies, and corrective action investigations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Quality departments to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience: 3+ years of CMM programming and inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation; proficiency with PC-DMIS, Calypso, or other CMM software required.
- Inspection Knowledge: Solid understanding of precision inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and similar measuring equipment.
- Reporting Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Excel and data reporting tools.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Citizenship Requirements: Due to U.S. Export Control laws and regulations, applicants must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). This includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (green card holders), or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
Physical Demands of Job and Work Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Exposure to a manufacturing environment with noise, oils, and temperature variations.
- PPE required: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection as needed.
