JOB DUTIES:
JOB SUMMARY:
This is an “on the floor” coordinating position, which balances clinical support staff, facility, and ancillary resources with the objective of optimizing provider and clinic efficiency consistent with high patient service and quality standards. They operate at a high level of discretion and independent decision making. Provides individualized supervision to service support staff that strengthens and develops their capacity to effectively respond to a range of diagnostic and presenting problems. Builds supervisory sensitivity towards individuals of diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and lifestyle backgrounds. The Clinical Coordinator ensures that the delivery of high-quality care, cost efficiency measures, and culturally sensitive services comply with all Federal, State, and Local agency policies and procedures, while supporting Kona Community Hospital's organizational culture and Code of Conduct.
Essential Functions:
Supervise office and clinical support staff with supervisory duties including instructing, planning, assigning work, reviewing work, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, assist in selecting new employees, completing performance reviews, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems, recommending employee discipline.Responds promptly to changes in workload or staffing assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency considering staff skills and experience.Coordinate time off requests for non-provider clinical and non-clinical staff with appropriate personnel to ensure coverage.Responsible for planning and implementation of office functions, which includes establishing work procedures and standards to improve efficiency and productivity to best serve our patients.Provides training, guidance, and supervision to office staff in daily practice functions.Support management in interviewing and hiring candidates for open clinical and non-clinical positions.Reviews all employee time off requests and makes decisions to approve or deny based on scheduling needs.In collaboration with the Practice Manager, resolves personnel problems, conducts meetings pertinent to staffing issues and documents appropriately.In collaboration with the Practice Manager, manages staff performance and evaluations including supervising, coaching, and disciplinary action for front office and clinical staff.Assists with feedback to management on staff 90-day evaluation and annual performance appraisals.Provide ongoing training for staff to ensure that productivity and knowledge of overall processes are maintained and improved.Provide back or front office coverage for sick call/vacation when needed.Attend department and other meetings as directed.Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of the Practice Manager/President & CEO, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.
EDUCATION:
Medical assistant training. Experience may be substituted for education.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Previous clinical experience preferred.
