Location: Owensboro, KY
Job SummGeneral Manager – Late Night Restaurant
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on General Manager to take full ownership of the day-to-day operations of one of our restaurant locations.
This is not a desk-management position. We are a late-night business, and we need a General Manager who understands that strong leadership needs to be present when the business is busiest. The ideal candidate is comfortable working primarily mid and evening/night shifts, leading from the floor, developing their team, and making sure the restaurant operates at a high level throughout all hours of operation.
We are looking for someone who will run their store like an owner. That means taking accountability for the people, the numbers, the guest experience, and the overall condition and performance of the restaurant.
What We’re Looking For
The right General Manager will:
- Be a hands-on leader who is actively involved in restaurant operations
- Be willing and available to work primarily mid and late-night shifts
- Lead by example and be present during peak and high-volume business periods
- Take complete ownership and accountability for the performance of their restaurant
- Build, coach, develop, and retain a strong management and team-member bench
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and ensure schedules support the needs of the business
- Hold managers and team members accountable to company standards and expectations
- Create a positive, performance-driven culture where employees understand what winning looks like
- Deliver excellent guest service and resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally
- Maintain high standards for food quality, cleanliness, safety, and restaurant appearance
- Manage labor, food cost, sales, inventory, and other key operational metrics
- Understand their P&L and take action when opportunities are identified
- Control waste, overtime, and unnecessary expenses
- Ensure opening, shift-change, and closing procedures are completed correctly
- Follow all company policies, food-safety requirements, and operational procedures
- Communicate effectively with their District Manager and follow through on commitments
- Identify problems early, create solutions, and follow up until they are resolved
- Recruit and train continuously instead of waiting until the restaurant is short-staffed
- Set clear goals for the restaurant and team and consistently work toward improving results
Schedule Expectations
Because we are a late-night business, this position requires a General Manager who is willing to work when their leadership is needed most.
The majority of the GM’s schedule will consist of mid and evening/night shifts rather than traditional daytime shifts. Weekend availability is also required based on the needs of the restaurant.
We want someone who understands that being a General Manager means being present during the important parts of the business, supporting the team, and knowing firsthand what is happening inside their restaurant.
The Leader We Want
We are looking for someone who doesn’t simply maintain a restaurant. We want someone who wants to build a great one.
Our ideal General Manager takes pride in their store and treats the business as if it were their own. They know their people, know their numbers, understand their opportunities, and take action.
They don’t wait for someone else to solve problems. They create a plan, execute it, and follow through.
They celebrate wins, coach opportunities, hold people accountable, and create a restaurant where both employees and guests want to come back.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant management experience required
- General Manager experience strongly preferred
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team
- Experience managing restaurant financial and operational metrics
- Strong understanding of labor, food cost, inventory, staffing, scheduling, and guest service
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Reliable and accountable with a strong sense of urgency
- Must be comfortable working primarily mid, evening, and late-night shifts
- Must be available to work weekends based on business needs
No specific college degree is required. We value restaurant leadership experience, proven results, work ethic, accountability, and the ability to build a successful team.
What Success Looks Like
A successful General Manager creates a restaurant that is staffed, trained, clean, organized, profitable, and ready for business every day.
They build a team that can execute whether the GM is standing in the restaurant or not. They take responsibility for results, continually look for ways to improve, and operate their restaurant with an owner’s mentality.
If you are a restaurant leader who enjoys being in the operation, developing people, driving results, and taking true ownership of your business, we want to hear from you.
