Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration units, and ventilation equipment.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design plans to accurately diagnose issues and execute repairs.
- Perform routine inspections of HVAC/R equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and optimal operation.
- Conduct plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems such as pipe fitting, leak detection, and drainage troubleshooting.
- Use diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and multimeters to identify electrical faults within HVAC controls and components.
- Repair or replace mechanical parts including motors, fans, compressors, valves, and weld components as needed.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, and document all repairs for accountability and future reference.
- Assist with property maintenance tasks related to HVAC systems to ensure continuous operation across multiple sites.
- Operate company vehicles responsibly while adhering to all safety protocols during field service calls.
- Support refrigeration systems using refrigeration techniques where applicable; handle refrigerants safely following industry standards.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in construction environments or property maintenance settings.
- Proven service technician experience with HVAC/R systems, VAV boxes, KMC controls, Johnson controls and DDC controls; familiarity with appliance repair is a plus.
- Ability to read schematics and interpret HVAC design plans accurately for installation or troubleshooting purposes.
- Knowledge of plumbing systems related to HVAC applications including pipe fitting and drainage solutions.
- Experience working with refrigeration systems and understanding of HVAC design principles.
- Skilled in electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters; capable of troubleshooting electrical controls within HVAC units.
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in equipment repair, welding, boiler maintenance, and general mechanic work.
- Valid driver’s license suitable for operating company vehicles safely in field service environments.
- Familiarity with field service operations including customer interaction and on-site problem resolution.
