JOB Climate and Energy Specialist will work under the direction of the Director and Deputy Director, primarily on planning, organizing and implementing programs related to energy efficiency. Develop, recommend, communicate, execute, and assess goals, objectives, and strategic plans in alignment with agency directives and positions. Develop, monitor, and assess key performance indicators and metrics. Coordinate the goal of reducing energy consumption through the tracking and evaluation of historic and current energy consumption data and utility charges for state-owned buildings in a manner consistent with NRS 701.215 and 701.218; and monitor energy usage against targets and objectives. Work statewide on various programs create within the State to ensure compliance and provide technical assistance. Plan, organize, coordinate, manage, direct, and evaluate complex statewide programs and activities to achieve identified goals and objectives. Conduct outreach, training, workshops and participate in public hearings, when necessary, to adopt or amend regulations for these programs. Assist with the compilation of the required financial and statistical data needed to maintain databases and ensure accurate program metrics and reporting requirements; conduct a variety of studies and research including statistical and informational analysis; prepare and present these reports summarizing results and conclusions; research and submit grant applications to secure federal/private funding to reduce energy consumption in state-owned buildings or other related energy or fuel efficiency matters.
Under the direction of the Governor’s Office of Energy, Energy Program Manager, the Climate and Energy Specialist plans, organizes, and implements Energy Office programs, including land use and siting for renewable energy development, climate policy, transmission planning, electricity markets, and promoting efforts to reduce energy consumption and the State’s carbon footprint. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a natural or physical science, engineering, or energy-related field and three years of professional experience which includes the planning, design, administration and evaluation of climate and/or energy programs and projects; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
