Desired Skills & Experience
- Active CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) certification, OR NRMA (National Registered Medical Assistant)
- Demonstrated ability to perform manual blood pressure readings (not solely machine-dependent)
- 1+ year of experience in a specialist clinical setting (e.g., cardiology, neurology, pulmonology, or similar)
- Will consider new graduates or recent certification program completers with the right attitude, patient-facing passion, and willingness to learn
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered, service-oriented mindset
Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established oncology organization in the San Marcos, TX area as a Medical Assistant. The ideal candidate will work directly alongside nurses and physicians, supporting patient care in both a radiation department and a medical oncology setting. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as this role requires daily interaction with patients, clinical staff, and providers in a fast-paced, high-volume specialty clinic. Key Responsibilities
- Escort patients from waiting areas to exam rooms and prepare them for physician visits
- Perform and accurately document vital signs including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure — including manual blood pressure readings
- Work collaboratively alongside nurses and physicians to support smooth clinic operations
- Assist in filling coverage gaps during high-volume days and periods of reduced staffing
- Administer injections and perform clinical procedures within the scope of MA licensure/certification
- Take and relay verbal orders from physicians in accordance with certification guidelines
- Support both the radiation department and medical oncology department as needed throughout the contract period
- Maintain a patient-first attitude and contribute to a team-oriented clinical environment
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
