Full Job Description - Event Server, Catering Operations
Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company, serving the area’s best barbeque since 1990, seeks professional and enthusiastic Catering Server(s) to join our off-premises team. The Catering Server is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service at events ensuring a positive guest experience while maintaining high standards of presentation, hygiene and efficiency. Candidates must be fluent in English, have a strong attention to detail and commitment to high quality service; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure; excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience in catering, preferred (entry-level candidates with strong customer service background welcome.) The job requires the ability to lift, carry and stand for extended periods of time. A professional appearance and adherence to uniform standards. Flexible availability including evenings, weekends and holidays. Food Handler’s certificate is preferred. Reports to Catering Supervisor This is a part-time/on-call contract position.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Event Preparation & Setup/Breakdown
- Set up/breakdown of event spaces, to including tables, chairs, linens, tables settings and decor
- Set up/breakdown of buffet, beverage, event floor and drop stations
- Assisting of unloading and loading Catering truck(s)
- Stock all serving stations with sauces, condiments, napkins and utensils
- Ensure all serving stations are clean, presentable and ready for service
2. Event Service
- Greet guests warmly and provide attentive, friendly service throughout events
- Passing of appetizers, drinks and replenish buffet stations
- Clear tables and event space(s) of place settings and trash
- Maintain a clean and organized service area
3. Hygiene & Safety
- Maintain high standards of sanitation, health and safety throughout events
- Be well-groomed with appropriate uniform
- Lift all equipment safety and responsibly
- Follow all Company vehicle safe driving guidelines
4. Customer Service & Guest interaction
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests and special dietary needs
- Handle complaints/issues gracefully & effectively
