Primary Purpose of Job
Perform duties to prepare, cook and portion servings for breakfast and snacks. Responsible for developing menus and ordering food.
Qualification
Education - High School Diploma/GED, and/or equivalent combination of experience and education; culinary degree preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provides efficient and attractive food service for children.
2. Follows all Kosher dietary rules, USDA, licensing, health department regulations; manages student allergy alerts and options.
3. Plans cooking schedules to assure optimum food flavor, texture and temperature is maintained and served in a timely manner.
4. Develops ELC rotating menus with a focus on providing healthy, balanced options. Tests cooked foods by taste and smell to determine if properly cooked and seasoned.
5. Detects and reports defective equipment, substandard or spoiled food to supervisor.
6. Keeps accurate inventory of food and supplies, replenishing items as needed.
7. Picks up food and supplies as needed.
8. Follows established safety regulations; maintains equipment and work areas in a clean, sanitized and orderly condition.
9. Assists in classrooms as needed and completes other tasks as assigned.

Physical Requirements
· Sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, perform fine and gross movements with the hands/fingers and move about intermittently throughout the workday.
· Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions
· Working with chemicals, spills, slicers, knives, sharp objects and ovens.
· Working in well-lit kitchen area(s), as well as throughout the facility (i.e., classrooms, offices, Great Rooms, etc.)
· Subject to frequent interruptions.
· Subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including exposure to blood-borne pathogens including the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
· Must be able to assist in the evacuation of children.
