Basic Qualifications to Apply
· Reside within a 35-mile radius of the City of Menominee, Michigan.
· Strong mechanical aptitude, technical skills, mechanical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities. (e.g., automotive repair, HVAC, plumbing, machining, welding, or similar trades).
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, with availability for on-call emergency duties on a rotating 3-week basis.
· Reliable transportation is required.
· A valid driver’s license must be maintained at all times.
· Ability to perform physical work, both indoor and outdoor, in all weather conditions.
· Most positions will require a clean driving record and a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
· Water treatment experience and/or operator certification is strongly preferred; however, we are willing to train the right candidate.
This full-time position will support the Menominee Water Department and water distribution system. Duties include, but are not limited to, water treatment and distribution system operations and maintenance; water sample collection and testing; valve exercising; hydrant flushing; meter reading and maintenance; Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping; operation and monitoring of water treatment equipment and processes; chemical feed system monitoring; mechanical troubleshooting and repair; cleaning and maintenance of treatment and distribution equipment; reading and interpreting charts, flow meters, gauges, and system data; maintaining records and regulatory reports; general housekeeping; grounds maintenance; mowing; snow plowing; and other facility and grounds maintenance duties as assigned.
The qualified candidate will have a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently and interact effectively with co-workers, clients, and the public.
The starting wage for this position is $20.00-$26.00 per hour, but it will be based on experience and certification level.
