ROLE DESCRIPTION
As a Designer of BR&A’s Structural Department you will work under the direction and supervision of the Head of Structural Department. You will be responsible for designing structural components and systems for various projects, ensuring functionality, safety, and compliance with codes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
General
Reporting to BR&A’S Head of Structural Department.
Collaborating with engineers and architects on project requirements.
Supporting project development from concept to completion.
Executing multiple projects at the same time.
Attending project meetings, as necessary.
Work toward BR&A’s vision and goals.
Maintaining professional relationships with clients, consultants, and other relevant stakeholders.
As a Structural Designer you will be responsible for:
Creating structural designs using CAD and analysis software.
Preparing design documentation and specifications.
Conducting structural calculations and models.
Ensuring compliance with local building codes and standards.
Conducting site visits.
Preparing Site Assessments Reports.
Researching projects conditions, design parameters and constraints.
Using CAD software and manual drawing techniques to produce structural plans for management and client approval.
Reworking and modifying designs based on comments and reviews from supervisor and clients.
Interfacing and coordinating with architecture and engineering design team members and consultants.
Provide support for preparing Project Specifications.
Provide support for preparing Project Cost Estimates.
Provide support for reviewing Submittals and RFI’s.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications – Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
- E.I.T. (Engineer in Training) certification preferred; progress toward PE license is an advantage.
- 0–3 years of experience in structural design or related engineering field.
- Experience with structural drawings and documentation using AutoCAD or similar tools.
- Familiarity with concrete, steel, wood, and masonry structural systems.
- Internship or previous work experience in engineering or construction firms is a plus
