POSITION: PASSENGER DRIVER
Non-exempt/full-time
Summary:
Under the supervision of the Program Director and Program Manager, the Prop A Driver will be responsible for picking up senior clients at their doors, assisting each client into the vehicle, securing wheelchair tie down and seat belts when necessary, driving the Proposition A vehicle, assisting clients to the door of destination and collecting voluntary contributions for the trip. They will maintain the safety of passengers, documenting if a client has been injured while riding on, boarding or departing from the vehicle. The driver will be aware of all emergency procedures and maintain vehicles in good driving and sanitary conditions. Drivers must complete daily Safety Inspection Reports each day prior to picking up their passengers.
Qualifications:
The driver is required to have a valid Class B California driver’s license and medical examination certificate, and the driver’s permit issued by the City Board of Transportation Commissioners. Driver must possess a current American Red Cross Standard first aid card or its equivalent cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. Drug testing will be part of the screening process for new employees and you must submit to random drug testing periodically as part of your provision of employment. Must comply with all program training procedures before operating the Proposition A vehicle. Must have the capability to operate special equipment on the vehicle, such as wheelchair ramps, lifts, or wheelchair tie downs. Must ensure all passengers abide by safety regulations.
Compensation based on experience: $17 – $18/hr.
