Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Aide to provide essential support and assistance to individuals in various care settings. Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Monitor patient conditions by observing vital signs, behavior, and overall health status; report any changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Support clients with mobility and transfers using appropriate patient transfer methods and manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary restrictions and preferences, ensuring proper food safety and hygiene standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and adherence to sanitation protocols.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being and social engagement.
- Assist with medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations; ensure accurate documentation of all care activities.
- Support clients during medical appointments or community outings using personal transportation assistance when necessary.
- Implement individualized care plans designed for residents with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism spectrum disorders, or developmental disabilities.
- Practice patient observation techniques to ensure safety, monitor progress, and support overall health management in compliance with healthcare guidelines.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient monitoring, vital signs measurement, first aid, CPR certification, and medication administration is required.
- Familiarity with dementia care, memory care strategies, Alzheimer's care, hospice care, and neurodevelopmental disorders is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate patient transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or developmental disabilities is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to follow care plans accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance for client privacy.
- Compassionate attitude with a commitment to providing respectful and personalized patient personal care assistance.
- Valid certifications in first aid and CPR are necessary; additional training in manual handling or home & community care is a plus.
