GLOBAL FAM SPECIALIST
The Utah Office of Tourism seeks a talented Global FAM Specialist to execute and plan our international familiarization (FAM) tours and international marketing and communication strategies.

Salary – $25.00 - $32.00/hr

Work Format – Hybrid (This position is required to be in the office a minimum of two days per week (fully remote available if living within 50 miles or more from the office))

Location Requirement – This position requires the candidate to live in the state of Utah.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
A successful candidate will have experience in hospitality and tourism. The ideal candidate will be able to work with rural and urban Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) partners, business owners, elected officials, and others around the state.
The ideal candidate can execute and balance multiple projects simultaneously and lead them through to completion. They will demonstrate strong organizational habits, attention to detail, patience, persistence, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work through complex issues. They will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with several different groups of people at once.
The candidate must be available for in-state travel and may be required to occasionally lead groups in non-technical outdoor recreation activities, including, but not limited to, winter sports such as beginner and intermediate alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. Other recreational activities may include hiking, cycling, and arts and cultural activities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Work with Market Managers, International Representative Firms, and DMO partners to vet, discuss, and plan FAM Tours, develop itineraries that meet the identified goals, and serve as the point person for partner outreach and communication throughout FAM tour planning and execution.

Lead on all FAM-related administrative tasks, including creating best practices, securing hotel rooms, collecting liability waivers, completing appropriate purchasing forms, creating itineraries, and any associated team travel.

Support FAM standard operating procedures, including safety protocols, equipment, and training; work with the office manager and operations manager.

Lead & execute occasional multi-day familiarization and press trips throughout Utah, hosting international and domestic journalists, tour operators, and other travel trade partners.

Work with the Utah Film Commission on film tourism FAM projects and adhere to film permitting rules throughout the state.

Create itineraries for the b2b training platform/resource hub, multi-state collaborative efforts, trade-specific, niche itineraries, and itineraries that support our Utah Forever principles.

Manage and maintain FAM Tour data and reporting in the CRM database.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
-
Manage ad-hoc marketing projects as needed to support the international team.

Create presentations and other training materials, and/or support webinars led by market managers.

Support administrative tasks, which may include travel authorizations, trade show support (including travel to some domestic trade shows), and other operational duties.

Collaborate with domestic PR and social media teams on domestic FAMs/press trips and social media influencer trips, media activations, and other opportunities as they arise.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
-
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in hospitality and tourism.
COMPETENCIES

Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely through writing and presentations

Ability to manage a portfolio of diverse projects and complete them in a timely and organized manner

Ability to analyze data and summarize information

Must be able to travel an estimated 10-15% of the time, including evenings/overnights and some weekends

Physical capabilities include leading a group on a hike, light scrambling, and moderate winter activities, such as beginner- to intermediate-level alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. Other recreational activities may include hiking, cycling, cultural activities, and other non-technical outdoor-based physical activities.

Proficiency in crafting presentations and the ability to present and speak in front of a group

Comfortable receiving feedback from multiple sources

Experience traveling the state/familiar with the state’s assets and resources

Ability & comfortable with driving a Suburban or other large passenger vehicle with passengers in the vehicle

Possession of and ability to retain a current, valid, state-issued driver’s license

Proficiency in MS Office, Word, Excel, Keynote & PPT

Experience working in cloud-based & team-sharing platforms, i.e., Google Drive, Asana, Slack, etc.

Experience working in a CRM system, preferably Salesforce

Experience working with Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs)
