Job Summary
We're looking for a sharp, experienced Maintenance Technician Manager to lead our maintenance team and keep our cannabis refinery running at its best. This role is critical to equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency across our production environment. As a key leader on the floor, you'll oversee maintenance operations, manage and develop a team of technicians, and build the proactive strategies that minimize downtime, extend equipment life, and drive continuous improvement. Your depth in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, mechanical troubleshooting, and facilities management will set the bar for operational excellence and reinforce a culture where safety and accountability come first.
At People's, we live by three core values: Give a Damn, Keep it Simple, and Be Accountable. We care deeply about our team, our work, and the impact we have. This isn't just maintenance — it's a frontline role in a high-growth operation built on precision and pride. Join us and help power the future of cannabis manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Lead, hire, train, develop, and manage performance of the maintenance team in partnership with other managers — with authority to hire, discipline, and recommend termination, and whose performance and promotion recommendations are given particular weight; oversee safety and forklift certification programs
- Build and own the facility’s preventive maintenance program, setting standards, schedules, KPIs, and reporting cadences that drive uptime and equipment longevity
- Oversee all maintenance repairs and direct the team’s response to equipment issues; step in hands-on as needed for training, escalation, or unusually complex troubleshooting
- Drive root-cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Champion facility-wide safety and compliance — LOTO, OSHA, chemical handling, internal SOPs, and state cannabis regulations
- Manage the maintenance budget, vendor relationships, and contracts — scoping work, negotiating quotes, and coordinating with purchasing, receiving, and accounting
- Maintain spare parts inventory, tools, and CMMS records using 5S and standard shop organization systems
- Travel to other company facilities as needed to support maintenance operations
- Spend the majority of working time (more than 50%) on managerial responsibilities — supervising staff, planning and directing the maintenance program, managing budgets and vendors, making hiring and performance decisions, and exercising independent judgment on equipment, staffing, safety, and capital matters
Requirements
- 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, including 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role
- Proven track record building or scaling preventive maintenance programs and managing budgets, vendors, and capital projects
- Familiarity with high voltage (240/480V), PLCs, boilers, HVAC, pumps, valves, and basic instrumentation
- Strong general facility skills (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, carpentry)
- Comfort working with oils, solvents, and chemical-handling protocols; ability to read equipment diagrams, P&IDs, and parts lists
- Forklift certification, with the ability to be primary forklift trainer
- Familiarity with LOTO and OSHA
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS software
- Food, beverage, or other regulated manufacturing experience a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications, trade school, or relevant degree preferred
- Valid driver’s license, 21+ years of age, and able to pass a background check for licensed cannabis operations
- Able to travel to other company facilities as needed
