2026-2027 Administrative Assistant for District Office
Salary: $42,000 - $46,000
Benefits Eligibility: Eligible for full-time benefits for classified personnel

Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Qualifications:

Excellent interpersonal skills with a supportive demeanor and genuine enjoyment of working with staff, students, parents, and the community

Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in all matters, take initiative, work independently while strengthening organizational systems

Excellent competencies in a variety of areas including writing and editing, software competencies, technology, basic financial literacy, and recordkeeping

Strong organizational skills, ability to problem solve, multi-task, manage projects, and consistently meet deadlines

Desire and ability to be a continuous learner
Reports to:
Chief School Business Official
Performance Responsibilities:

Promptly acknowledge and welcome visitors by greeting them professionally and assisting with their inquiries.

Answer incoming phone calls and emails in a timely manner and direct each appropriately.

Work cooperatively with others to support an efficient office environment.

Maintain office security by following safety procedures, checking the visitor management system and issuing visitor badges.

Coordinate facility usage by processing building usage applications, maintaining the building schedules, and communicating set-up requirements with the maintenance staff.

Assist with all aspects of student transportation, including bus registration and working with the bus company and schools on routes, ridership and other issues.

Organize and maintain a variety of files and records, including management of the district’s archives (retention and destruction).

Process student records for those exiting the District by cleaning out the cumulative file, making copies and forwarding to the new school.

Coordinate and maintain the business office website and Intranet.

Receive, sort and distribute daily mail and deliveries.

Review and distribute printed and electronic news publications related to District 28 and other schools.

Assist the chief school business official and director of buildings and grounds with department operations.

Actively participate in team and committee meetings when applicable.

Perform other appropriate tasks as assigned by the chief school business official.
Terms of Employment:
12 Month Position; salary and benefits as determined annually by the D28 Board of Education
