Part-Time Sales Associate – Cigar Shop

Position Summary
The Part-Time Sales Associate is responsible for creating a welcoming, knowledgeable, and customer-focused experience for every guest. This role assists customers with cigar selections, accessories, and store offerings while maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked retail environment. The ideal candidate is personable, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable building relationships with both new and experienced cigar enthusiasts.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet every customer promptly and provide friendly, attentive service.
- Assist customers with selecting cigars, accessories, and related merchandise based on their preferences, experience level, and occasion.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of cigar brands, wrappers, strengths, flavor profiles, accessories, and proper storage.
- Educate customers on cigar care, humidification, cutting, lighting, and storage when appropriate.
- Build relationships with regular customers and create a welcoming, community-oriented shop atmosphere.
- Process sales accurately using the point-of-sale system, including cash, credit card, and gift card transactions.
- Verify identification and follow all applicable age-verification, tobacco sales, and store policies.
- Restock shelves, displays, humidors, accessories, and merchandise throughout each shift.
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the sales floor, humidor, lounge areas, counters, and back-stock areas.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate low-stock items, damaged products, or customer requests to management.
- Assist with receiving shipments, labeling merchandise, organizing inventory, and preparing displays.
- Support store events, tastings, promotions, and customer appreciation activities as needed.
- Answer phone calls, respond to basic customer questions, and direct inquiries to management when necessary.
- Help maintain a professional, polished, and welcoming store environment at all times.
- Follow opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, cleaning, securing merchandise, and preparing the store for the next shift.
- Work collaboratively with team members and communicate clearly with management regarding customer needs, store operations, and scheduling.
- Must have the desire to increase knowledge about cigars and cigar industry
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Previous retail, hospitality, customer service, or sales experience preferred.
- Interest in cigars, tobacco products, hospitality, or luxury retail is a plus; training can be provided.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable starting conversations and making thoughtful product recommendations.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional special events.
- Ability to comply with all local, state, and federal regulations related to tobacco sales.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
