Overview
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by assisting them in daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their well-being in a safe and nurturing environment. The DSP will work closely with clients to foster personal growth, while also adhering to all regulatory guidelines and best practices.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Monitor and document patient health status, including vital signs and any changes in condition.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper medication management.
- Provide support for community integration by facilitating participation in social and recreational activities.
- Uphold resident rights by ensuring dignity, respect, and confidentiality at all times.
- Implement individual care plans tailored to each client’s unique needs and preferences.
- Assist with first aid as necessary and maintain a safe living environment for clients.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate care and communicate any concerns regarding client health or behavior.
- Engage in ongoing training related to HIPAA regulations, home community care practices, and hospice care protocols.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in healthcare or direct support services preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Experience in home health care or similar settings is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform patient monitoring tasks effectively, including checking vital signs.
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and meal preparation techniques.
- Strong communication skills to interact positively with clients, families, and team members.
- Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to advocating for resident rights and enhancing client independence.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by regulatory standards.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.50 per hour
