What you’ll do
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming to promote their independence.
- Monitor patient health by checking vital signs and observing any changes in behavior or condition.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering meaningful relationships.
- Administer medications as prescribed and maintain accurate records of medication schedules.
- Implement care plans designed to meet the specific needs of each client, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
- Assist with heavy lifting and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Engage clients in social activities that promote cognitive function and emotional health, especially for those with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Basic qualifications
- Experience in home health care or assisted living environments is essential.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required to ensure safety during care.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with memory care techniques and Alzheimer’s care practices will set you apart.
- Background in nursing or social work is a plus, enhancing your ability to provide comprehensive support.
