Position Summary
1. Support the Project Manager as an assigned APM for that leader to assist on mid-sized and large water and wastewater projects
2. Manage own small-sized projects and Buy-Resell jobs
3. Support various pump and piping systems engineering duties to facilitate design/build projects
4. Partner with other departments on special projects
Responsibilities
1. Support Project Managers:
- Estimating/Bidding: Review Contract Documents, prepare bid packages for competitive Subcontractor pricing
- Prepare submittal packages to customer and/or Engineer: Compilation of all cut sheets, drawings, & data sheets to prepare accurate submittal packages
- Procurement: Must be able to manage detailed BOMs, order materials accurately and consistently
- Scheduling: Coordinate scheduling with customer, subcontractors and CRU staff. Must be able to maintain tentative schedules and provide contingency plans in case of emergency
2. Manage projects:
- Initiation/Planning: Create and grow relationships with municipal customers, prepare estimates in a timely manner
- Execution/Monitoring: Order materials accurately and consistently, coordinate scheduling with customer and CRU staff
- Closeout: Ensure customer satisfaction on work completed, complete accurate billing in a timely manner
3. Engineering support duties for design/build projects:
- Create construction drawings based on existing equipment and facilities: Must be able to calculate distances and do various geometric and trigonometric operations, use or learn to use builders’ level, tape measure, & micrometer
4. Special projects as assigned:
- Assist with various projects and tasks in other departments such as: equipment upgrades/modifications, writing procedures & creating work improvement processes
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management; adequate experience record in lieu of degree may be considered
- AutoCAD, Microsoft OS and PM Software understanding
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
- Must be able to quickly interpret project specifications
- Work experience in water and wastewater pump and piping systems preferred
- Flexibility for overnight travel
