Reports To: Senior Program Coordinator of Youth Education & Development
Job Responsibilities

Act as the team leader for all Project Ready components and program staff members/volunteers including assisting program staff in the other components with program implementation.

Plan and implement weekly afterschool and summer program sessions in accordance with the program funder’s guidelines.

Plan and meet with students in school when needed.

Provide post-secondary success workshops and financial aid counseling to prepare students for college, work, and life.

Develop, organize, and promote interdisciplinary activities through authentic curriculum experiences.

Plan and implement cultural diversity guest speakers, field trips, middle and high school workshops and creative engaging enrichments activities aimed at strengthening math and reading skills.

Implement Project Ready 3.0 and STEAM curriculum, develop daily lesson plans and lead group sessions after school.

Develop Individual College Preparation Plans with each youth, and periodically review and revise these plans to reflect changes in the youths’ academic situations.

Provide case management and counseling to participants to help address any unmet needs of the youth and their families.

Administer assessments and assist with the tracking of participants’ outcomes.

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, monitor the program’s progress towards goals and develop plans for corrective action as required.

Complete records and reports to track and assure successful program outcomes.

Participant in webinars, trainings and other scheduled events as required by the United Way of Greater Rochester and the National Urban League.

Participate in training and orientation as required and approved by the Director for effective program operation.

Perform such duties as the supervisor may assign.

Attend/support Urban League of Rochester events and fund-raising functions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, STEAM, counseling, human services or social work and or related field required. OR
-
Experience working with youth in an educational setting, STEAM curriculum and/or teaching experience is a plus.

Experience using online platforms including but not limited to social media, Zoom, Google Classroom, etc.

Proven ability to make presentations and lead trainings for groups.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, and customer service oriented.

Ability to relate well and understand the barriers of minority and underrepresented youth mainly from the inner city.

Ability to function effectively as part of a team.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of community resources for youth and families is a plus.
-
Ability to interface with external parties and community partners.
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple, competing tasks and demands.

Ability to work a flexible schedule and be available past 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and work some Saturdays.

Access to reliable transportation.

Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
