Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and highly skilled Registered Dietitian - Consultant to join our dynamic dining team. In this vital role, you will provide expert nutritional guidance, develop personalized care plans, and collaborate closely with dining/trayline, healthcare directors, and others to optimize resident outcomes. Your expertise in clinical nutrition, medical nutrition therapy, and chronic disease management will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive nutritional support across an aging resident population. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough dietary assessments, including nutritional analysis and diagnostic evaluation, to identify individual resident dietary needs and health goals
- Develop and implement tailored care plans that incorporate medical nutrition therapy (MNT), weight management strategies, and specialized nutrition support such as tube feeding
- Provide nutrition counseling and health coaching to motivate residents toward healthier lifestyle choices and improved chronic disease management
- Collaborate effectively with dining, trayline, directors. nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care plans and ensure integrated treatment approaches
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems accurately for documentation of patient progress, care plans, and clinical notes
- Supervise dietary department staff when applicable, ensuring adherence to best practices in clinical nutrition and patient safety standards
- Stay current with advancements in physiology knowledge, dietary guidelines, and EMR/EHR technology to enhance service delivery
Skills
- Extensive experience in clinical nutrition, including medical nutrition therapy (MNT) for various conditions such as geriatrics, acute care, long-term care, and chronic diseases
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for documentation, patient tracking, and communication within healthcare teams
- Strong knowledge of physiology related to digestion, metabolism, and nutritional requirements across different populations
- Exceptional client communication skills with a focus on motivational interviewing techniques to foster behavioral change
- Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive care plans that include dietary interventions like tube feeding and specialized nutritional support
- Proven supervising experience within dietary or healthcare settings with the ability to lead teams effectively
- Experience working with individuals with specific dietary needs or medical conditions requiring tailored nutritional strategies
- Familiarity with hospital environments, acute care settings, weight loss programs, and geriatrics is highly desirable
- Ability to perform detailed patient assessments and nutritional analysis while managing multiple priorities efficiently
