Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Unit Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations using medical terminology and anatomy knowledge.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and catheter care in accordance with nursing policies and HIPAA regulations.
- Operate and monitor medical equipment such as ventilators, cardiac catheters, neonatal ventilators, and sterile processing tools to support critical & intensive care needs.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Cerner or Athenahealth; ensure compliance with medical documentation standards.
- Coordinate discharge planning, case management, and utilization review processes to optimize patient outcomes across acute care, long-term care regulations, and managed care settings.
- Supervise nursing staff and manage care facility teams while maintaining nurse management responsibilities aligned with hospital medicine and senior care standards.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including sonography or medical imaging when necessary; assist with procedures such as spinal taps or gastric lavage under aseptic technique.
Experience
- Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as ICU (Intensive Care Unit), Level I & II Trauma Centers, or emergency medicine units.
- Demonstrated proficiency in critical care experience including ventilator management, airway management, trauma response, and acute pain management.
- Strong background in managing patients with complex needs such as dementia care, behavioral health issues, developmental disabilities, or geriatrics.
- Familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding systems for accurate medical coding and billing; experience with CPT coding is a plus.
- Prior roles involving nursing leadership or supervising teams within hospital or long-term care facilities; experience working with multidisciplinary teams is preferred.
- Knowledge of state healthcare regulations, HIPAA compliance standards, and long-term care regulations to ensure quality assurance.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks; proficiency in medical records management is essential.
- Ability to perform venipuncture, phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, suturing, and sterile technique procedures confidently.
