Essential Responsibilities
Child Development & Instruction
Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons aligned with Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards.
Prepare children for kindergarten by developing foundational skills in:
· Early literacy
· Language and communication
· Mathematics
· Science and discovery
· Social studies
· Fine and gross motor development
· Social-emotional learning
· Create engaging learning centers and hands-on experiences that encourage exploration and creativity.
· Observe, assess, and document children's growth and development.
· Adapt activities to meet the unique needs and abilities of each child.
Relationship Building:
· Build positive, nurturing relationships with children that promote a sense of belonging and security.
· Communicate regularly with families regarding their child's progress, milestones, and needs.
· Foster a classroom culture of kindness, respect, acceptance, and cooperation.
· Support children through challenges using positive guidance and relationship-based discipline practices.
Classroom Management:
· Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
· Ensure compliance with all state licensing requirements and center policies.
· Supervise children at all times and maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
· Keep accurate attendance, incident reports, and required documentation.
Team Collaboration:
· Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff.
· Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
· Support center-wide events, family engagement activities, and special programs.
Faith Integration:
· Model Christian character through words and actions.
· Support The Learning Tree's mission of proclaiming and demonstrating the reality and goodness of God's kingdom through high-quality childcare.
· Incorporate age-appropriate biblical values such as kindness, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion into daily interactions.
Qualifications Required:
· High school diploma or GED.
· Experience working with preschool-aged children.
· Ability to pass all required background checks.
· Ability to meet Ohio childcare licensing requirements.
· Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
· Driver’s license or reliable transportation
Preferred:
· CDA, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
· Previous preschool or kindergarten readiness teaching experience.
· Knowledge of Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards.
· Experience implementing developmentally appropriate practices and play-based learning.
