Position Title: Lowell Cultural Council Member (3990)
Duration of Term: Three Years
Meetings: The Lowell Cultural Council meets in the Mayor’s Reception Room at City Hall on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm
SUMMARY
The Lowell Cultural Council (LCC) is comprised of up to 22 members, and serves to promote excellence, access, education and diversity in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences in order to improve the quality of life for all Lowell residents and to contribute to the economic vitality of the community through the re-granting of public monies awarded to the LCC by Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC).
The Lowell Cultural Council is an agent of the Massachusetts Cultural Council which receives funding from the Massachusetts Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts. Distributions are based on local aid formula devised by the state and are not determined by the individual municipality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Attend Cultural Council meetings held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM in the Mayor’s Reception Room.
Be an active ambassador for the Lowell Cultural Council in the Lowell Community.
Conduct interviews of applicants for grants and consider the allocation of grant funding.
Assist in the coordination and organizing of cultural events.
Staffing Cultural Council tables at the Lowell Folk Festival and at other major events.
Review requests for reimbursements.
Attend events sponsored by the LCC to support grantees and to evaluate for future review.
