ABOUT THE ROLE
The Quality Analyst is responsible for overseeing all raw material and finished product testing, for assessing and releasing ingredients/components for use in production, and for creating ingredient/component specifications for Adept Life Sciences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Testing & Specifications
- Determine and assist with setting appropriate testing specifications for raw materials and finished products based on scientifically valid methods.
- Determine what tests are required for raw materials and finished products based on established specifications.
- Create raw material specifications which are determined from finished product specifications.
- Create finished product specifications or provide support.
Laboratory Coordination & Sample Management
- Create laboratory COCs and prepare samples for shipping to third party laboratories.
- Maintain the Laboratory Testing Log and other relevant communication tools.
- Communicate with laboratories to ensure adherence to proper methodologies and agreements.
- Maintain, and ensure compliance with, Subcontract Laboratory Qualification procedures.
- Maintain finished product retention samples.
Test Results & Material Disposition
- Receive test results from the laboratories and determine whether specifications are met.
- Release acceptable raw materials and components for use in production.
- Identify, investigate, and escalate any out of specification test results.
- Execute the raw material revalidation testing, assessment, and dispositions.
- Support the Conditional Release process for raw materials and components.
- Execute the Raw Material Qualification program, assessment, and disposition for qualifying samples.
Non-Conformance & Quality Documentation
- Document any internal non-conformances and out-of-specification conditions, investigate the root cause, recommend corrective actions, and make appropriate decisions for resolving such non-conformances and out-of-specification conditions.
- Provide back-up support to creating finished product certificates of analysis.
Communication & Continuous Improvement
- Communicate raw material and finished product testing statuses with relevant departments.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, product safety, and ability to serve customers.
- Provide support to other Quality functions, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in food science, biology, chemistry, engineering, or related field.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (PREFERRED)
- Strong analytical skills and some science background preferred.
- Three years or more of quality assurance experience in food or dietary supplements preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and other software programs preferred.
- Experience with ERP and/or LIMS preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly involves talking or listening, sitting, and the use of hands and fingers.
- Frequently involves reaching with hands and arms.
- Occasionally involves standing and walking.
- Specific vision abilities required may include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
- Involves light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature.
- May be required to wear protective gear, i.e. dust masks, gloves, etc.
Pay: From $26.00 per hour
