We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our team in Portales. This full-time position is responsible for the accurate billing and collection of accounts receivable, including Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, self-pay, and other payer sources as applicable.
Key responsibilities include:
- Entering, verifying, and submitting insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner
- Ensuring claims comply with payer and regulatory requirements
- Following up with insurance carriers on unpaid or denied claims
- Responding to patient inquiries regarding account balances and charges
- Posting payments and adjustments to patient accounts
This position plays a critical role in supporting efficient revenue cycle operations while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism. Qualifications include:
- Two years of medical insurance billing experience helpful; Billing/Coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA preferred.
- Knowledge of automated business applications, including word-processing, spreadsheet and data base applications required.
- Data entry experience and knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party insurance required.
