American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical-Surgical unit position with a 1:6 patient ratio on night shift, open to first-time travelers.

General Medical-Surgical unit in a hospital setting
-
Adult to geriatric patient population
-
Patient ratio of 1:6
-
Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
-
Every other weekend required
-
Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
-
Uses Epic (EMR) and Pyxis for medication management
-
SBAR communication framework used on unit
-
No alternate shifts or special scheduling requests are permitted
-
Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration

Current BLS certification required
-
Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience required

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Local candidates are accepted

RTO maximum of 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment

Holiday coverage is required: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two, and one holiday RTO request may be submitted for approval

Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counts as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counts as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counts as one)

Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a full year before returning as a traveler

Navy blue scrubs required

Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration

Travel pairs may not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
