Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct initial patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and dental radiographs using medical imaging equipment.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to improve their overall health.
- Assist the dentist during procedures with chairside assisting, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed.
- Review and document medical records accurately while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Monitor and record vital signs before procedures to ensure patient safety during treatment.
- Utilize dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review, scheduling, and medical coding to ensure precise recordkeeping.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, and dental assisting techniques.
- Strong knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic technique, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Experience with dental office management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is preferred.
