Since 1965, Bennett Material Handling has been a family-owned and operated company dedicated to providing exceptional material handling equipment sales, service, rentals, and support throughout Minnesota. We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Shop Forklift Technician to join our team.
Position Summary
The Shop Forklift Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining forklifts and material handling equipment in our shop. This is a union position that offers excellent benefits, including a pension plan, health insurance, and dental insurance. This role plays a critical part in ensuring customer equipment is repaired safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while contributing to the success of a family-owned company that has been serving customers since 1965.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, fuel, and mechanical systems on forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled services.
- Complete major repairs, component replacements, and equipment rebuild.
- Accurately document repairs, labor, and parts used on work orders.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Work closely with the Service Manager and Parts Department to complete repairs efficiently.
- Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Experience repairing forklifts and material handling equipment preferred.
- Experience in automotive, diesel, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, or related mechanical repair is strongly encouraged.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems.
- Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work in a shop environment.
