The ideal candidate should have 3–5+ years of hands-on CNC lathe setup and operation experience, with strong knowledge of tooling, offsets, tolerances, gauging, and inspection. This role requires someone who can work independently, operate the machine with minimal supervision, maintain their work area, and produce accurate parts consistently.

- Run production on a Mori Seiki / DMG MORI NLX2500SY or similar CNC turning center
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, tolerances, and work instructions
- Set tools, work offsets, tool offsets, jaws, fixtures, and workholding as needed
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
- Use calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, and other inspection tools
- Monitor parts during production and make offset adjustments to maintain tolerance
- Identify and troubleshoot common machining issues such as tool wear, chatter, poor finish, taper, and size variation
- Work independently once the job is assigned and keep production moving efficiently
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe machine/work area
Requirements
- 2 to 3+ years of CNC lathe setup and operation experience required
- Mori Seiki / DMG MORI NLX2500SY experience preferred
- Experience with multi-axis CNC lathes, live tooling, Y-axis, C-axis, sub-spindle, Fanuc/Mitsubishi/MAPPS, or similar controls required
- Ability to read blueprints and understand tolerances
- Strong measuring, gauging, and inspection skills
- Basic knowledge of tooling, inserts, speeds/feeds, and CNC offsets
- Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area
- Ability to produce parts to specification and take ownership of machine output
Preferred Skills
- Experience with live tooling, sub-spindle transfer, drilling, tapping, boring, threading, grooving, and milling features on a CNC lathe
- Ability to make minor program edits at the machine
