Basketball Instructor leads and actively engages in a safe, organized, meaningful, enriching, and fun basketball
program for groups of campers primarily ages 5-17. The program should focus on skills for basketball, athletics and
for life, such as teamwork, healthy competition, being active and healthy, and having fun. Candidates must be
available to work 4 days a week Tuesday Thursday and Friday . Qualifications and Skills:
● Training/certification and/or experience in Basketball.
● Demonstrated experience playing and coaching Basketball/or working with and leading children
preferably in the sport of basketball.
● Desire and ability to supervise, lead, and positively manage campers and work with other staff in a
cooperative, team-oriented camp atmosphere.
● Knowledge and skills in Basketball the ability to teach these skills to campers and staff.
● Strong communication skills.
● Possess excellent character, integrity, adaptability, patience, self-control, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor.
● Pass a Fl State background check.
Responsibilities:
● Formulate, plan, and lead age appropriate, safe, and enriching activities in the sport.
● Follow and uphold all policies and philosophies of DNA
● Follow and uphold all state and local health and safety regulations and guidelines and those set by the
Camp.
● Teach staff their responsibilities in your activity area during staff training and throughout the season.
● Teach and guide campers, CITs, and coworkers in participating successfully and appropriately in all aspects
of the sport and related activities, including proper and safe use of equipment..
● Conduct initial, in-season, and end-of-season inventories, assuring appropriate supplies for activity and
storage of the supplies.
● Conduct and ensure regular cleaning and checks of spaces and equipment are being performed by group
staff according to health and safety protocols.
● Participate in and assist in running camp events and initiatives.
● Communicate regularly with the direct supervisor regarding concerns, updates, challenges, and successes.
● Communicate with parents about their child when necessary and appropriate.
● Set a good example for campers and coworkers in all areas, including but not limited to health and safety,
accountability, fairness, organization, punctuality, following the rules, and sportsmanship.
● Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and Director.
Job Requirements
● Available 5:45pm-8:30pm Tuesday Thursday and Friday including some Saturdays for the entire program season and to attend all staff training
sessions before and during program season.
● Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate health and safety
regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
● Occasional lifting, bending, and climbing stairs.
● Frequent talking, listening, walking, , and standing.
● Possess the visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to
camp activity.
● Be able to lead and fully participate in the sport.

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
