Position Overview:
The person in this position is responsible for providing accurate and timely application of fertilizer and pesticides for farmers. This position will also assist in the day-to-day operations around the plant. Duties of the position include but are not limited to operating application equipment, equipment and tender truck maintenance, and general maintenance around the location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurately and professionally perform fertilizer and chemical applications to customer’s fields.
- Perform calibration of application equipment to ensure accurate applications.
- Log application records for each job completed.
- Complete daily inspection and maintenance of equipment prior to the start and at the end of each day.
- Participate in continuing education classes and applicator workshops to maintain applicator license and education.
- Assist in the maintenance of application equipment, tender trucks, pickup trucks, and other supporting equipment at the location.
- Handle and deliver fertilizer, packaged chemical, and seed to farms.
- Mix dry and liquid products as needed.
- Assist in maintenance around the facility to keep a welcoming appearance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be able to work extended hours and overtime during the busy season.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Good verbal communication skills are a must.
- Attention to detail and able to work accurately and efficiently with little error.
- Capable of working on your own with limited supervision.
- Ability to work well with a variety of personalities.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must be able to meet the requirements of a CDL physical examination and drug screening.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Category 1 pesticide applicator license or the ability to obtain one.
- Class A or B CDL with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsement or ability to obtain one.
- Agricultural experience or knowledge of the ag industry is necessary.
- Being mechanically inclined is helpful in this position.
- Experience with application equipment and field computers (Raven & John Deere’s GreenStar) is preferred but not necessary.
