We're a 5-star shop (330+ Google reviews, 5,000+ batteries sold) becoming a multi-location brand — and we're hiring the operator who'll help build it. You'll run the front of the business, keep daily operations tight, and turn what works into the playbooks every future TRU location will follow. We'll teach you everything about hybrid and EV batteries. You bring the operational brain.
Position: Operations & Customer Service Associate
Location: Tukwila, WA (on-site)
Reports To: General Manager / Owner
Type: Full-Time
Pay: $28-$32/hr DOE + monthly performance bonus (first-year target: $62K-$75K+)
WHO WE ARE
TRU Hybrid & EV Batteries replaces and remanufactures hybrid and EV batteries for consumers, independent repair shops, and dealerships — locally in Tukwila and shipped nationwide. Every battery we deliver comes with a transparent performance and health report; our 3-year warranty on remanufactured batteries is the best in the industry, and our new batteries carry a lifetime warranty. We sell trust, and the reviews show it.
THE ROLE: ONE SEAT, THREE MUSCLES
Most postings bury the job under a dozen bullet categories. Here's the whole thing:
1. Run the day-to-day operations (your home base)
Scheduling and the daily job board, invoicing and payment collection, supply ordering, light expense categorization, and the admin that keeps us compliant (permits, filing, timekeeping, e-signatures). You'll also keep our product listings fresh — photographing finished batteries, posting them to our Google Business page and social channels, and entering SKUs into our shop system. You won't do the accounting: our third-party bookkeepers and tax preparers handle that. You keep the day-to-day flowing and hand them clean numbers.
2. Own the customer experience (100% trainable — we'll teach you)
Phones, walk-ins, and emails. Listen to each customer's situation, explain their options in plain language, build estimates, follow up, and guide happy customers toward leaving a review. No automotive background needed — we have the scripts, the training, and a 90-day ramp that will make you fluent in batteries. Once you're trained up, you'll also help open our B2B side — calling fleet operators, independent shops, and dealerships to start wholesale relationships.
3. Build the systems (why this role really exists)
When something breaks twice, you fix the process, not the symptom. Turn repeat tasks into SOPs, checklists, and templates clear enough that TRU location #2 could follow them without calling you. Help us choose and connect the tools we run on — CRM, shop management, scheduling. The playbook you build here becomes your resume.
YOU'RE OUR PERSON IF...
- You're a critical thinker. When something goes wrong twice, your instinct is to fix the process, not work around it.
- You're savvy with systems and software. You pick up new tools fast and enjoy making them talk to each other.
- You're organized to a fault. Estimates don't sit in limbo and supplies don't run out on your watch.
- You switch gears quickly. Customer call, supply order, social post — and it energizes you rather than overwhelms you.
- You communicate clearly and calmly, even with a stressed-out customer whose car just died.
- You're not afraid of the phone. Warm outreach calls to shops and fleet owners sound like an opportunity, not a chore.
- You take ownership. If it needs doing and belongs to no one, it belongs to you.
- You'd rather say "let me find out" than guess.
BACKGROUNDS THAT TRANSLATE (NO AUTO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)
We're looking for people who've balanced customer-facing work with back-office operations — and built a process or two along the way:
- Medical, dental, or veterinary office management / patient coordination
- Operations, project, or multi-location/franchise coordination
- Insurance, claims, or benefits roles
- Executive assistant or small-business office management (especially if you built SOPs)
- Customer success at a tech or SaaS company
- Property management, hotel front desk management, or high-end consultative retail
THE NON-NEGOTIABLES
- 2+ years in a customer-facing role managing ongoing relationships (not one-time transactions)
- A track record of building or improving a process, workflow, or documentation — even informally ("I made the onboarding checklist at my last job" counts)
- Confident with technology: CRMs, spreadsheets, and scheduling tools — and able to learn our shop software quickly
- Comfortable handling invoices and payment follow-up (no accounting background required)
- Strong written and verbal communication; highly organized across multiple concurrent responsibilities
- Reliable and professional, with a valid driver's license (you may occasionally move vehicles)
NICE TO HAVE
QuickBooks Online familiarity | Tekmetric, Shop-Ware, or similar shop software | social media for business | experience writing SOPs or training docs | consultative or outbound phone sales experience | comfort with AI tools (we use them daily) | automotive or hybrid/EV exposure
PAY & GROWTH
- $28-$32/hour to start, depending on experience
- Monthly performance bonus tied to customer satisfaction, close rate, and scheduling accuracy — with a guaranteed minimum bonus during your first 90 days while you train
- Realistic first-year earnings: $62,000-$75,000+
- Full training on hybrid and EV battery technology — you'll be an expert within 90 days
- A real growth path: this seat grows into Service Manager, Operations Manager, or running a future TRU location. The systems you build now are the resume for that job.
