Physical requirements: This is operative work requiring the exertion of up to and exceeding 50 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Certification: Flagger Certification, CDL-B
Job Summary: To assist with the installation and maintenance of water and sewer lines and perform meter readings.
The Utility Worker II position is a Full-Time position with benefits. The current Job Posting is written for a Utility Worker II position; however, applicants who don’t meet the minimum qualifications for the Utility Worker II position may be considered for a Utility Worker I position.
Essential Job Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:

Lead in the absence of a crew leader in the installation and maintenance of water and sewer lines by implementing instructions of supervisor safely, correctly and efficiently to include, but not be limited to: digging trenches, fitting pipes and valves, using acceptable traffic control techniques, and installing meters

Obtain water meter readings by locating, reading, and accurately recording meter readings, as directed by supervisor

Assist in the maintenance of County property as may be required, to include, but not be limited to snow removal both by hand and with equipment

Work under limited supervision using prior field experience to carry out critical decisions

Ability to be courteous and helpful to customers and relaying appropriate and pertinent information as required

Abide by VOSH and OSHA safety requirements

Perform related tasks as required

Proficiency in the operation of heavy equipment and mechanical equipment necessary to complete the tasks listed above
