As a Mental Health Tech (MHT), you'll work alongside the nursing team to support quality patient care on the unit. This role exists to help meet day-to-day patient needs while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment.
Key responsibilities include providing direct care and assisting with activities of daily living; supporting group activities as directed; observing patient status and the physical environment and promptly communicating behavioral, emotional, or psychiatric changes to licensed staff; helping with nutrition needs in coordination with nurses; using therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques when needed; and completing basic clerical tasks as indicated.
Required qualifications/skills:
- High school education (or higher)
- Certified Nurses Aide preferred
- Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Previous work experience with psychiatric and/or geriatric patients preferred

Throughout the shift, you'll stay visible and engaged on the unit, balancing patient interaction with steady documentation and communication. You'll coordinate closely with the nursing staff as the pace changes-calm periods, admissions, and moments that require extra support. By morning, you'll help prepare for shift change with a clear update so the next team can pick up seamlessly.
