Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Residential HVAC Service Technician with extensive experience in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of residential HVAC equipment to ensure optimal comfort and efficiency for our clients. Your mechanical expertise, combined with your ability to interpret schematics and HVAC design plans, will drive your success in delivering exceptional service. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse systems including air conditioning, refrigeration, boilers, and building automation systems, ensuring homes stay comfortable year-round. A valid driver’s license is essential for timely service calls and customer interactions.
Duties
- Diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems including air conditioning units, furnaces, boilers, refrigeration units, and building automation systems.
- Interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and HVAC design plans to accurately troubleshoot issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as filter replacements, system calibrations, and mechanical system inspections to prevent future breakdowns.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters to identify faults within complex electrical circuits.
- Repair or replace mechanical components such as compressors, fans, motors, valves, and pumps while adhering to safety standards like EPA regulations for refrigerants.
- Install new HVAC equipment in compliance with manufacturer specifications and local codes; coordinate with clients on system upgrades or replacements.
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed for each customer visit.
Skills
- Proven experience as a service technician specializing in residential HVAC systems with a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Construction experience or background in property maintenance is highly advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and HVAC design plans accurately.
- Knowledge of HVAC/R (refrigeration) systems including ammonia refrigeration is preferred.
- Skilled in electrical diagnostics, plumbing connections, welding techniques, and equipment repair.
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) for controlling HVAC functions within residential properties.
- Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; experience with HVAC/R equipment repair is essential.
- Mechanical knowledge of boilers, pumps, valves, and other mechanical systems used in residential settings.
- Experience with appliance repair and general property maintenance tasks is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills utilizing tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters to identify electrical issues efficiently.
- Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for timely field service operations.
