Scope & General Purpose
The Server Assistant plays a critical support role in the dining room, helping maintain the flow, cleanliness, and overall guest experience throughout service. This position works closely with servers and managers to ensure tables are set, cleared, and reset quickly and thoughtfully.
Success in this role comes from strong awareness, urgency, and a team first mindset. The Server Assistant anticipates needs before they arise and supports the floor wherever needed.
Responsibilities
Dining Room Support and Flow
- Clear, clean, and reset tables quickly and to standard throughout service
- Maintain consistent table readiness to support smooth seating and service flow
- Assist in running food and beverages as needed
- Support servers by anticipating table needs such as water refills, clearing plates, and resetting silverware
- Maintain awareness of the dining room and patio and adjust support based on volume and pace
Cleanliness and Organization
- Keep all service stations clean, stocked, and organized at all times
- Maintain cleanliness of the dining room and patio, including floors, chairs, and surrounding areas
- Assist with polishing glassware, silverware, and plateware as needed
- Follow all sanitation and food safety standards
Team Support and Communication
- Work closely with servers, hosts, and managers to support service needs
- Communicate clearly and efficiently with the team during service
- Step in wherever needed to maintain flow and guest experience
- Support opening, running, and closing side work responsibilities
Guest Experience
- Interact with guests in a warm, respectful, and professional manner
- Maintain awareness of guest needs even when not directly serving the table
- Support a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment at all times
Requirements:
- Previous restaurant experience preferred but not required
- Strong work ethic with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Ability to stay organized and focused in a fast paced environment
- Team oriented mindset with a willingness to support others
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required by business needs.
- A positive, upbeat, and energetic attitude – leading by example
- Comfortable standing/walking for 8+ hours, and be able to bend, push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs.
