Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to accurately identify client needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, and art or dance therapy when appropriate.
- Provide individual, group, family, and child/youth counseling sessions to address a wide range of issues including PTSD, grief, addiction, gender issues, autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and chronic pain management.
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques to manage acute mental health emergencies effectively while adhering to clinical ethical guidelines and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Maintain detailed clinical documentation in electronic health records (EHR/EMR), including progress notes, treatment planning updates, medical records, and compliance with clinical documentation standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for case management and coordinate care for clients with co-occurring disorders or complex needs.
- Engage in clinical research and data collection efforts to improve service delivery and contribute to best practices within behavioral health.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Mental Health Therapist (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPC) with current state certification or license to practice independently.
- Proven experience working with children, adolescents, adults, or geriatrics in outpatient or inpatient settings.
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, trauma-focused therapy, behavioral therapy, and evidence-based practices.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder is highly desirable.
- Skilled in crisis management techniques including crisis intervention and behavior management strategies.
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), medical terminology, clinical documentation standards, CPT coding for billing purposes, and HIPAA compliance.
- Proficiency in telehealth platforms and experience providing remote therapy sessions is preferred.
- Ability to conduct mental health assessments using diagnostic tools such as DSM criteria; experience with inpatient or outpatient care environments is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for client engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration; cultural competence is essential for serving diverse populations.
