The following job description represents a multi-skilled job classification. This multi-skilled job classification includes the skills of a CNC Lathe Machinist. The qualified employee must possess a minimum of the following listed skills. In addition the following are the minimum knowledge, skills and competency requirements necessary for this position subsequent to completing the probationary period. The knowledge and skill requirements are listed below for the entire job classification. The functions of a CNC Lathe Machinist will be performed under limited supervision in a timely manner and with acceptable quality. The purpose of a CNC Lathe Machinist is to work directly with CNC Lathe Machines. Maintaining quality control while being able to operate all machinery under safety guidelines put forth by Air Industries Machining Corporation is necessary.
- Responsible for maintaining quality control of all parts produced on Lathe machines.
- Responsible for all the processes of the CNC Lathe Machines (Setups, loading parts, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, milling, turning, drilling, taping, all bench operations, and inspect).
- Measure and maintain the dimensions on material as a guide for subsequent machining.
- Report and document any equipment malfunctions to direct supervisor
- Work within the standard operation procedures and job safety parameters.
- Communicate with all co-workers and shifts.
- Clean and maintain a safe work area.
- Complete all tasks assigned by direct supervisor.
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions immediately to their direct supervisor.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
- Operate one or more machines on a daily basis depending solely on the needs of the organization.
- Basic machine maintenance (oils, coolants)
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3+ years of CNC Operating related experience or have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks.
- Experience in Lifting Heavy Equipment using hoists, hand trucks, conveyors and lifts
- Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, fixtures and other accessories used on various machines.
- CNC Operators must stand for long periods and be adaptable to a changing work environment as well.
- CNC Operators also must be open to being exposed to noise, fumes and varying temperatures.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motions and must have strong finger dexterity
- Must have strong basic math skills including geometry and algebra to calculate material fabrication.
- Knowledge of Calipers
- Ability to read and understand specifications, travelers and drawings.
- US Citizenship / US Work Authorization is Required -- No sponsorship
