Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Veterinarian to provide high-quality medical care to companion animals in the Portland area. The ideal candidate will diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, perform surgical procedures, and build strong relationships with pet owners while delivering exceptional veterinary care.
Veterinarians play a central role in diagnosing illnesses, performing treatments, and guiding preventive care for animals.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests to assess animal health
- Diagnose illnesses and develop treatment plans
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and preventative care
- Perform surgeries such as spay/neuter and other procedures
- Provide emergency care when needed
- Educate pet owners on nutrition, behavior, and ongoing care
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with regulations
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and clinic staff
Typical daily work includes exams, vaccinations, prescribing treatments, and communicating with owners about care plans.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree
- Active veterinary license in Oregon (or ability to obtain)
- Strong diagnostic, surgical, and communication skills
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately
- Experience preferred, but new graduates may be considered
Work Environment
- Primarily in veterinary clinics or animal hospitals
- May involve evenings, weekends, or emergency shifts
- Interaction with a variety of animals (mostly dogs/cats; possibly exotics)
- Fast-paced environment requiring multitasking
Pay: $118,523.17 - $142,737.59 per year
