Overview
We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our dedicated veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and veterinary procedures, with a passion for providing exceptional pet care and supporting veterinary professionals. Duties
- Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and procedures using veterinary terminology and aseptic techniques
- Perform animal restraint and handling for dogs and cats, ensuring safety for both animals and staff
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments accurately following veterinary protocols
- Support laboratory procedures such as sample collection, processing, and basic testing
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the clinic, including kennels, treatment areas, and surgical suites
- Manage documentation responsibilities including client communication, appointment scheduling, and pet record updates
- Care for hospitalized animals through feeding, basic hygiene grooming, and monitoring vital signs
- Support animal husbandry activities including feeding schedules.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Veterinary Assistant with veterinary clinic experience preferred
- Kennel experience and animal husbandry skills highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and pet care practices
- Experience with animal restraint techniques across different species including dogs and cats
- Ability to perform medication administration accurately and handle laboratory tasks effectively
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques during medical procedures
- Excellent animal handling skills with a focus on safety and compassion
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
