Position Overview
Gateway Medical Pharmacy is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Cashier to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for greeting and assisting customers in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner while ensuring accurate processing of transactions and maintaining the overall efficiency of pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities
● Greet customers at the counter in a timely, friendly, and professional manner
● Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using point-of-sale (POS) systems
● Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions with integrity and attention to detail
● Locate customer prescriptions and process payments for prescriptions and store merchandise
● Refer patient questions to pharmacy technicians, interns, or pharmacists as appropriate
● Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
● Keep assigned area neat, clean, and stocked
● Assist with inventory management
● Answer telephone inquiries and respond to questions or requests
● Promote pharmacy programs and services with each customer
● Other duties as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
● Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
● Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
● Excellent verbal communication skills
● Strong attention to detail
● High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
● Minimum one year experience as a cashier, preferably in a retail pharmacy setting
● Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment
Work Location and Schedule
The position is based at Gateway Medical Pharmacy, 1125 NE 99th Ave., Portland, OR 97220. Store hours listed publicly are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with the pharmacy closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
