Data Center MEP Project Manager - TRAVEL/RELOCATE

Position Overview
Our Client, a Top General Contractor is seeking an MEP Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEP/F) systems on Data Center and Mission Critical construction projects.
This role is responsible for managing MEP scopes from preconstruction through close-out, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, quality expectations, and client objectives. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with proven project management experience and the ability to drive results across complex, fast-paced construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support preconstruction efforts including estimating assistance, scope reviews, and value engineering exercises
- Develop and manage MEP project budgets, unit cost tracking, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead the preparation and implementation of the Project Management Plan (PMP) for assigned projects
- Participate in subcontractor procurement, scope development, bid review, and contract negotiations
- Coordinate pre-award and preconstruction meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders
- Assist in permitting processes and coordination with local authorities and regulatory agencies
- Collaborate with Superintendents to develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and sequencing plans
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documents for completeness, accuracy, and constructability
- Manage procurement of MEP materials and equipment, ensuring alignment with budget and schedule requirements
- Monitor jobsite performance related to cost, safety, quality, and schedule alongside field leadership
- Track project progress and adjust schedules and execution plans to meet milestones and financial targets
- Manage and negotiate change orders with owners and subcontractors, ensuring proper documentation and cost recovery
- Prepare monthly owner pay applications and actively support collections and cash flow management
- Review and approve subcontractor pay applications, ensuring compliance with work completed and contract terms
- Coordinate with accounting teams on job cost tracking, payments, and lien releases
- Participate in monthly cost review meetings to forecast and report project financial status
- Lead or support project meetings, including owner updates, coordination meetings, and internal reviews
- Oversee project quality control, safety performance, and risk management plans specific to MEP scope
- Coordinate close-out activities including as-built drawings, O&M manuals, warranties, and turnover documentation
- Support creation and maintenance of historical cost data for estimating and future project planning
- Ensure proper organization, documentation, and archiving of all project records
- Collaborate across departments to ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and operational standards
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, consultants, and regulatory stakeholders through professional communication and issue resolution
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to training and development initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
- 4–8+ years of construction project management experience with a focus on MEP systems
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, project delivery methods, and MEP systems coordinationWorking knowledge of estimating principles, cost control, and change management processes
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Understanding of contracts, construction law, and risk mitigation strategies
- Familiarity with permitting processes, building codes, and regulatory requirements
- Proven experience managing subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and client relationships
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including cost forecasting and issue resolution
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in high-pressure environments
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving capabilities
- Proficiency with construction management software and standard office applications
- Professional certifications (PMP, PE, LEED) and industry affiliations are a plus
- Valid driver’s license with a strong driving record requiredWork Environment
This position includes both office and on-site responsibilities. Candidates must be comfortable working in active construction environments, coordinating with field teams, and managing multiple project phases simultaneously while maintaining consistent communication with all stakeholders.
