Little Roots Learning LLC is looking for a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to join our team!
This position offers the potential for full-time employment and provides flexibility in classroom placement. Depending on enrollment, staffing needs, experience, and individual strengths, this position may be based primarily in our Infant, Toddler, or Preschool classroom, or may include working across multiple classrooms.
We are looking for someone who wants to be an active part of children’s days: building relationships, playing, teaching, creating, exploring, and helping children develop the skills they need as they grow.
What You’ll Do
- Provide nurturing, responsive, and developmentally appropriate care for children from infancy through age five.
- Create positive, meaningful relationships with children and families.
- Support and maintain consistent classroom routines, schedules, and transitions.
- Plan, prepare, and/or implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and learning experiences.
- Engage with children during play, learning activities, meals, outdoor time, and daily routines.
- Support children’s social-emotional development and use positive, developmentally appropriate behavior-guidance strategies.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with co-teachers, administration, and families.
- Complete required classroom documentation and responsibilities.
- Work collaboratively as part of the Little Roots team.
- Provide support in different classrooms when needed.
- Follow Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations and Little Roots Learning LLC policies and procedures.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for an educator who is:
- Dependable and punctual. Consistent attendance is essential in early childhood education because children, families, and fellow staff members depend on you.
- Patient, nurturing, and genuinely enjoys working with young children.
- Comfortable actively engaging with children rather than simply supervising.
- Able to communicate professionally and work collaboratively with others.
- Flexible and able to adapt to the needs of different children, classrooms, and age groups.
- Organized and able to follow established classroom routines and expectations.
- Willing to receive feedback, learn, and continue developing professionally.
- Interested in contributing ideas, creativity, and enthusiasm to curriculum and classroom experiences.
- Comfortable working independently while also functioning as part of a teaching team.
Classroom Placement
One of the unique aspects of this position is its flexibility.
The successful candidate may work primarily in one classroom or may work with multiple age groups depending on the needs of the center. Our program serves children from infancy through preschool, providing an opportunity to gain experience across different stages of early childhood development.
As enrollment and staffing needs develop, this position may transition into a consistent full-time classroom position.
Qualifications & Requirements
Candidates must be able to meet applicable Vermont child care licensing requirements for their position.
Employment may require completion of applicable background checks, fingerprinting, orientation, training, and professional-development requirements.
Previous experience working in a licensed early childhood program is preferred but is not necessarily required for the right candidate who is willing to learn and grow within the field.
Physical Requirements
Early childhood education is an active job. Educators must be able to participate in daily classroom and outdoor activities, including sitting and playing on the floor, standing and walking for extended periods, bending and kneeling, assisting children with daily care routines, and safely lifting or carrying children and classroom materials as appropriate for the age group.
